MEET IRELLA

A Leader Delivering Results for Our Community

I am a lifelong resident of Alameda County. I grew up in the City of Alameda with humble beginnings. My mom raised my brother and me by herself. I attended St. Joseph Notre Dame high school in Alameda and graduated as a scholar-athlete. My degrees are in economics from UC Berkeley with an emphasis in accounting and I have an MBA in Finance from Holy Names University in Oakland. I am excited to bring my academic credentials, experience, leadership and financial background to be your next Auditor-Controller.

I worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers, America’s top accounting firm. I currently work in the City and County of San Francisco where I have a strong history of successful audits within San Francisco’s $10 billion jurisdiction. Sometimes, this calls for tough recommendations. As an executive level manager with the City and County of San Francisco, I have provided leadership to oversee audits in the San Francisco business community for tax compliance and manage accounting for a multi-billion of capital projects in transportation.

I believe in community service.  I previously served as trustee on the finance committee for St. Joseph Notre Dame High School in Alameda. I also served as a director for the Castro Valley Education Foundation. I currently serve on the Board of Governors for the San Francisco Bay Area chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors and the Committee on Accounting Auditing and Financial Reporting for the Government Finance Officers Association.  In addition, I serve as a Board member for the UC Berkeley Black Alumni club.

Being the mother of three makes me committed to creating a stable foundation for Alameda County’s future. I respectfully request your vote for the Auditor-Controller. Election Day is June 5, 2018.
